It was a usual dull afternoon at Ace's house. He had left to go shopping and that left Mogin and Acina at home alone. Fortunately though, Taka, Ace and Acina's cousin, was in the area and decided to drop in suddenly. Her visits were always loved by the three of them, even if she somehow managed to make all of them embarrassed in one way or another before she left to go back home. She seemed to be a master of it, and enjoyed this to its fullest.
Mogin and Acina were in their usual attire, a blue long sleeved shirt and some black shorts for Mogin, and a small green tanktop with forest camo pants that tied off at her ankles for Acina. As per also usual, they were barefoot to keep Ace happy as well as tease him when they felt like it. Taka was always dressed a little differently though.
Unlike Ace and Acina, who were part Golden Labrador, Taka was part Japanese Akita. Her ears stood upright and were easy for her to control. And as her last name, Curltail, suggested, her tail curled upwards and rested a little on her own back. Today she was dressed in a flower printed sleeve-shirt, a short pair of shorts, thigh high socks with little tassels on the tops of them, and lots of various bracelets around her wrists. As always, she was dressed beautifully like she was going somewhere important. Today though, she was only seeing her cousins.
With Ace being gone, they had all decided to have a drink of tea together and catch up on how things had been going over the time they had last seen Taka. They all were having a great time swapping stories of events, holidays, and even some gossip about what family members were up to. It was a swell thing for them to do all sitting in the den. Mogin sitting on one of the large lazy boy chairs, while Taka and Acina sat together on the couch. Mogin did like Taka, but Acina absolutely adored her and always seemed to miss her cousin. So when she was around, Acina was usually sitting or standing close by to her.
Taka leaned back against one of the arm rests, putting up one of her socked legs resting on the edge of the table and keeping the other one on the ground. "So~! How is my adorable little cousin Ace? He hasn't contacted me in such a long time, and I'm beginning to miss how squirmy and red in the face he gets when you do something like this~" She said, chuckling and putting her other leg up onto the table, wiggling her toes some which seemed to cause the other girls to giggle.
"He's doing swell at the moment." Acina said, "Always up to his usual plotting of how to make new and more advanced storage container and capturing devices." She chuckled, winking at Taka. "You know, the usual."
Taka let out a few giggles and looked to Mogin, smiling at her. "I still don't know how you put up with him all of the time hun.... I know I can because he's more afraid of what I'd do to him if I got my hands on those fluffy little ears of his~" She chuckled, rubbing her hands together and bringing her feet back down to the floor, leaning forward and pointing her ears towards Mogin to better listen to her.
Mogin couldn't help but giggle and smile, knowing exactly what Taka meant. The tip of her tail twitched in thought, before wrapping itself around to then be hugged by herself. "Hmmm.... I don't know~ It could be because he's the sweetest dog I know...." She giggled and shrugged her shoulders. "It could be because he's really fun whenever he's around and not working. Or maybe because he's always been there for me whenever I needed it since we were little kids." She winked and stuck her tongue out playfully at Taka before ending her statement. "We may never know why I put up with him so well~"
Taka and Acina couldn't help but laugh at Mogin's answer to the question. "So I bet you repay him every day for how much he helps you." Taka said, now grinning a little "Even more so at night I hope~ Eh?" She said teasingly, nudging Acina and winking at her also.
This statement got Mogin to turn bright red, and Acina to burst out laughing having to set her cup down so that she wouldn't spill it. "Oh come on Taka!" Mogin protested, hugging her tail a little tighter. "You know very well that Ace isn't that kind of dog. He's not ready to have a family yet, so there's none of that going on." Mogin now crossed her arms and glared a little at her, Acina now barely keeping herself on the couch from all of her laughing after slumping over onto her side.
Taka grinned a little more and took a sip of her tea, giving her a little time to think before replying. "Really now?" she finally started, sounding unusually calm. When she spoke like this, it usually meant she was starting to plan something. "But you two have been together for so long. I would of thought by now you two would be..."
"Why don't we talk about something, else, hmm?" Mogin said, interrupting Taka and now even brighter red in the face than before. Acina now finally rolled off of the couch and with a slight thud, now lay on the floor clutching her sides and nodding her head. Just seeing Mogin like this was priceless to her. Acina knew how to get Mogin red, but she had never seen her this red or this defencive about a subject before.
"Yes! P-please!" Acina panted, silently laughing still. "New topic!.... It's, it's to much... seeing Mogin like that!" She said before flopping over onto her back, panting and slowly regaining herself. Taka chuckled and gave her a gentle kick to her sprawled out legs.
"Well then get back up here and talk with us, rather than making fun of someone for how they look~!" Taka teased, leaning back again and smiling back at Mogin. "But really now... You do stuff for Ace to thank him for all of this? He does seem to revolve his life around you you know."
Mogin looked down and pulled her knees up. She knew he sacrificed a lot of chances for her even though she never asked for any of it, and even with everything she did for him she felt like she should still do more. She nodded her head finally in response. "Yes... I do a lot of things for him, but never enough to repay him for it all... He's really such a sweet guy."
Acina finally got herself back up onto the couch during Mogin's response and lay against her cousin, snuggling a little happily against her. Taka's right ear then seemed to twitch some as she started thinking. "Well, if you have any ideas that we could help with, Ace is out of the house for a while and we could do something for him... Maybe.... Bake him a cake?"
Mogin shook her head. "No, I baked him one the other week and there's still some of it left in the fridge." She chuckled and smiled some. "If I didn't limit him to one piece a night, it would have been gone the first night I gave it to him..." She sighed, shaking her head and tisking a little. "I really don't understand how you dogs can not feel how full you really are. You'd eat and eat and eat until there's nothing left in the house~"
Taka chuckled while petting Acina's head, starting to pat one of her ears a little also. "It's not that we don't realize it... it's just that we love food~! It's the reason why, unlike you cats, we don't leave things sitting around or in storage for very long~"
The two of them chuckled a bit at their little argument before Taka went back into thought. Mogin seemed to start thinking also, and Acina simply lay happily against her cousin, loving the attention she was getting from her. "Hmmmm.... What about making his favorite food for dinner tonight? We could all pitch in and help~!"
Mogin sighed and Acina chuckled a little, looking up at Taka. "We did that last night before you arrived." Acina said. "She pretty much has done everything at least once already for him to say 'thanks'... think we'll have to start repeating the list again... Unless of course, you can think up something more unique for us to do?"
Mogin sighed again and nodded, but Taka kept on thinking. "Hmmmm.... Well... There has to be something that you haven't...." She stopped mid sentence and grind a devious grin. She then pushed up Acina and lifted one of her ears. Acina blushed a bright red at the more firm touch, but listened as Taka whispered to her. As she went on, the grin seemed to spread itself onto Acina's bright red face. When Taka sat back up, Acina flopped a little, but quickly got herself up, still grinning as well. Mogin had her ears perked up to try and listen in, but Taka seemed to know all to well how to whisper to her cousins without her being able to hear.
"Now that idea is something new~!" Acina stated, now standing up and looking towards Mogin. "I say we go with that idea and get ready right away~!" Taka chuckled and stood also, leaving Mogin the only one still sitting in a chair, but now looking worried rather than in thought.
"What idea is that? What did Taka say to you?!" Mogin said, a little worry in her voice. "You guys know I don't like it when you plan and whisper together like that!"
Taka and Acina moved briskly towards her. When Mogin put down her legs and started to stand, the two of them seemed to be at her sides in a flash, taking one arm each and lifting her up some. Even though Acina was smaller than Mogin, she was still stronger than her. They both winked at Mogin and started bringing her upstairs without much trouble at all.
"Oh don't worry my little fluffy kitty~ We have the puuuurfect plan for you~" Taka teased while they walked, making Acina chuckle some. "You don't have to worry about anything at all~... except maybe when your beloved and gullible puppy will get home~"
